The results are in: Adult leaders let teens down
The Teen Report Card on Adults from UCAN of Chicago, and the Child Welfare League of America, grades adults impacting teenagers' lives, from parents to teachers to politicians. This year's survey, released by CWLA on June 13, shows a disappointing C-minus on a number of counts.
"The report card shows how well teens are attuned to issues in their communities as well as nationally and internationally," said Linda Spears, CWLA SVP Operations. "They are concerned not only about their future, but the future of the country if things like health care and violence are not dealt with by the nation's leadership."
Through focus groups in major cities, teens expressed their concern about lack of strong leadership from government and adults, saying adults lacked commitment and passion and did not take action.
